Risks of derivatives trading
A perpetual future is traded on margin. If the price moves against you, a loss larger than the margin you deposited can occur, and your position can be liquidated.
The difference in funding between exchanges that this site deals with assumes that you hold both sides at the same time, on two exchanges. If one exchange liquidates your leg, you are left holding the other one, unhedged. And because your money sits separately at each exchange, a gain on one side cannot cover a shortfall on the other on the spot.
Losses can also arise for reasons other than price movement: an exchange outage, suspended withdrawals, an asset no longer being listed, a change to an exchange's funding rules, or a currency that claims to track the dollar drifting away from it.
Accuracy of the data
The figures are collected from the data each exchange publishes, but delays or gaps in collection, or changes made by the exchange, can leave them different from the actual values. When collection is running late, the operator marks this on screen and stops evaluating.
Estimates of costs and of how far prices move are based on past records. They are no guarantee of the price you will actually fill at, or of how far prices will move from here.
